🧠 Context & Problem

The NurJiwa Foundation is a Malaysian non-profit organization dedicated to humanitarian relief, education, and community upliftment. Despite the noble mission and on-ground impact, the foundation’s digital presence—particularly its website—did not reflect its credibility or inspire confidence from potential donors and volunteers.

The original website suffered from a few problems such as outdated visuals and layout, poor mobile responsiveness, lack of emotional storytelling, unclear calls to action and scattered information architecture

This project was initiated to redesign the website from the ground up—with a focus on making the foundation’s work more discoverable, relatable, and actionable for both first-time visitors and long-time supporters.

🔍 Research & Insights

To establish a benchmark, I conducted a competitive scan of local and global non-profit websites, especially those focused on humanitarian and community development work.

Key Insights:

  • Strong NGOs show real impact via statistics, stories, and financial disclosures.

  • Simple navigation and a focused homepage increase donation and volunteer sign-ups.

  • Emotionally resonant imagery, testimonials, and videos create a deeper connection.

  • A significant portion of traffic comes from mobile, especially for urgent donation campaigns.

These learnings highlighted the need for a clean, modern design paired with focused content strategy to better tell NurJiwa’s story.

🧪 Design Process

The redesign followed a lean and purposeful UX process—focused on accessibility, clarity, and emotional resonance.

Information Architecture & Content Strategy

  • Consolidated and reorganized the site into clearer categories: Who We Are, What We Do, Get Involved, and Contact.

  • Highlighted core initiatives and current campaigns on the homepage.

  • Introduced impact stories to bring beneficiaries’ voices to the forefront.

Wireframes & Layouts

  • Designed low-fidelity wireframes to restructure content hierarchy.

  • Prioritized above-the-fold messaging and CTAs (e.g., Donate, Volunteer).

  • Created reusable components for news, campaigns, and testimonials.

Visual Direction

  • Adopted a clean, uplifting aesthetic with generous white space, warm tones, and soft typography.

  • Balanced professionalism with compassion through imagery and layout.

  • Integrated iconography to guide users visually and improve scannability.
